A file or connection is not being used

Start by reading the selected node’s current inputs, model, mode and warning text. A wire on the canvas is evidence of a connection; it is not proof that its content is valid or will be sent.

Symptom Check Recovery
Connected text is empty Has the upstream node produced an output? Run or repair that source, then inspect the receiving input preview.
Text input does not run; ▶ or the run button below it is grey Does the field contain a text N placeholder with no wire, an input that arrives empty, or a placeholder inside a %rand% formula? The card names the port. Connect that input, or remove or move the placeholder out of the formula; nodes below run again once the text input can.
Style text replaced the scene Is it an unplaced text N input? Insert its placeholder where it should supplement your direction, then review the assembled context.
Character reference ignored Is the Element connected, in scope and accepted by this mode? Inspect delivered inputs and reference limits; choose a supported route or deliberately simplify the inputs.
Clip opens on a collage Was a character or storyboard sheet used as the first frame? Supply a composed scene frame, or choose a supported sheet route.
Last frame or other media not sent Does the chosen mode accept it? Read the warning and choose a suitable mode; retaining a wire does not enable support.
File inaccessible Is it an owned uploaded/generated material or a supported import? Upload/import through the documented route and use its returned ID or URL.
Document rejected by a media node What is the material kind? Use an actual image/video/audio file; storing a document does not convert its contents.
New numbered port rejected Is the name current and the row within its limit? Read the catalogue and existing ports; use successive inputs instead of sharing one input slot.

If a model’s input limit is exceeded, do not silently drop references or shorten creative content. Make a visible choice of route, inputs or scene design, then check that the revised request preserves what matters.

Through MCP, use read_project_graph and describe_studio before edits; use describe_scene or trace for recorded delivery. Refer to frames and sheets and files and artifacts for the correct input roles.
