Grok Image 2
Grok Image 2 is an image model by xAI. A generation and editing model for a new scene or a change to existing images. The author’s app can expose tools that are not controls in Vini; use the Studio limits below.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Model ID | grok_image_2 |
| Name | Grok Image 2.0 |
| Availability | available |
| Default for new nodes | no |
Common declared limits
Section titled “Common declared limits”| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Capabilities | text to image, reference edit, multi reference |
| Maximum prompt length | 8000 |
| Controls | quality: draft, max; fallback max; resolution: 1k, 2k; fallback 1k |
| Element input form | sheet |
| Maximum image references | 5 |
Limits apply together. initial is the studio choice for a new node; default is the fallback for an existing node without that value. Declared language or input support does not guarantee a successful result.
Prompting playbook
Section titled “Prompting playbook”Write the scene or edit directly. Specify the output composition and exact lettering. Identify the source subject and the property to preserve, rather than relying on an automatic rewrite.
Studio example
Section titled “Studio example”On an Image node (Картинка), choose Grok Image 2. Supply the input image or Element when the selected operation requires a reference. Use this original example as a starting point:
Keep the traveler’s face, hat, coat and lighthouse background. Add a folded blue umbrella in the traveler’s left hand, without changing the pose.
Review the prompt and expected format before running. Compare the output against the source, including hands, face, object count, lettering and crop. Use the resulting scene image as a video first frame only after approving it. For automation, follow the supported MCP workflow.
Known failure modes
Section titled “Known failure modes”An edit may inherit the shape of its source; check the output format. A claim about precise small text does not replace a spelling check, especially for a language not covered by a local trial.
Evidence and limits
Section titled “Evidence and limits”A 15 August 2026 edit using three copies of the same reference retained the face and outfit while adding the requested object. That does not establish performance with three different subjects. Cyrillic lettering was not tested in that study.
An available reference input is not a guarantee of identity preservation. See reference workflows and image style samples. Generation and editing are different tasks; keep their evidence separate.
Reviewed 14 October 2026 against Vini’s image registry and dated research. Official model-author documentation checked on that date. Recheck the guidance when the model version or connected operation changes.
