Prompt → Run → not quite. Another Run → almost. Another Run → back to square one — and you pay for every run in full, even for the parts that already worked. One result, twenty generations paid for.
I tried the ready-made services — burned through about $200 on other people's platforms and barely got a single clip out: nothing connects, everything lives on its own, and there's nowhere to bring it all together. So I stopped hunting for ready-made and built my own.
My pipeline is exactly that: a cloud, node-based editor where a text idea turns into a vertical 9:16 video step by step, and every step is out in the open. Here's how it's built, from scratch:
How to turn a text idea into a finished clip on a single canvas — from scratch.

Not a black box — nodes
An ordinary generator is 'prompt → random result': don't like it, hit Run again — the whole thing, at full price. On the canvas it's different: plot, script, storyboard, every frame and every scene are separate nodes with previews. You can see what each step produced and what it costs to recompute.
Prompt → random result. Not right — the whole clip over again, in full and at full price. Twenty paid runs for one result.
Each step is its own node: its own result, its own price, its own rerun. Only what you touched gets regenerated.

You pay for the edit, not the whole clip
Change one prompt and a single step recomputes. Everything unchanged comes from cache and costs nothing: the same inputs → the same saved file from the library, no second charge. Editing the third scene doesn't touch — or bill — the other eleven.
Editing one scene: an ordinary generator recomputes and bills the whole clip; the canvas recomputes only the changed node, the rest from cache for $0.

History loses nothing
Projects, runs, graph revisions, autosave, and a live generation log — no result ever gets lost. Everything generated lives in an artifact library with prompt search: yesterday's frame is right there, instead of 'generate it again'.

How it works — step by step
- An idea in text. One line as input → plot and script (Claude), storyboard, frames, video, assembly — all by nodes.
- Watch the estimate. The projected cost of a run is calculated and shown in the toolbar BEFORE you press Run.
- Edit surgically. Don't like a scene — only that one regenerates; the rest comes from cache for free.
- Swap the model in a node. A frame runs from $0.04 to $0.17 — the price recalculates, the pipeline stays the same.
- Nothing gets lost. Projects, runs, revisions, autosave, the artifact library — all at hand.
One result — one generation paid for. You pay for the edit, not for twenty full runs.— the canvas principle
